Barry Shaw Sackett, Owner, Attorney

Barry and his beautiful wife JoAnne have four children, Venice, Nokubonga, Tahoe, and Kwanele. 

Barry is an avid runner with a streak of daily running stretching back to November 4, 2009 and five sub 3 hour marathons including the 2014 Boston Marathon. Barry completed his first Iron Man challenge in Madison Wisconsin in 2015.

In addition to his in-house business experience, he has worked with start-up, mergers, reorganizations and mature growth of companies large and small. Barry has worked in state and federal government.

Kristine K. Willrett, Attorney

Kristine joined Sackett Law Firm in the fall of 2015. Kristine and her husband are both originally from Spencer. 

Kristine enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing with her hyper-active blue heeler and rescue kitty, watching bad television, buying new shoes and reading.

Before returning to Spencer to join the Sackett Law Firm, Kristine served as a Corporate Attorney for subsidiaries of The Schwan Food Company, a company engaged in the manufacture and sale of frozen food products.

State of Iowa, Third Judicial District – Clerkship

Kristine has also served as a corporate officer for a number of private corporations and limited liability companies.

 
 

Linda Storey, Legal Assistant

Linda joined Sackett Law Firm as a paralegal in October of 2015. Prior to this time, Linda resided in Reinbeck, Iowa where she dedicated the last twenty-five years to her career as a legal assistant for Rickert Law Office. It is in Reinbeck where Linda raised her three beautiful, now grown daughters. 

Linda brings to Sackett Law Firm a wide range of legal expertise in such areas as probate and estate planning, and corporate law. She also has extensive knowledge and years of experience with real estate.  Linda is excited to continue in these areas learning more as she grows with Sackett Law Firm. 

In her spare time, Linda enjoys biking, the outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and spoiling her nine adorable grandchildren.

Cory Peterson, Bookkeeper

Cory received her bachelors and masters degrees in education from Iowa State University. She worked with the Iowa State University Extension for 20 years, first as a Community Development Specialist and then County Extension Director before retiring in 2009 and joining Sackett and Sims-Taylor as an essential part of our management team.

Cory and her husband Steve operate a family farm and raise cattle near Fostoria, Iowa. They have two children, Angie, a speech pathologist, and Tyler, who joined the family farm team fulltime after graduation. Cory welcomed her first grandchild in 2015. In her "spare" time, Cory enjoys gardening, cooking, sewing and volunteering for various community organizations.

Clarice Howard, Tax Consultant

Clarice joined the Sackett law practice in 1991 after raising five incredible children and returning to school for an education in tax preparation. She became a highly valued member of the firm expanding her education and participation into real estate transaction, probate and office management.

She continued her education in tax focusing especially on recent developments in farm and business tax affecting the clients of the firm. She annually attends the Tax School sponsored by Iowa State Center for Agricultural Law and Taxation and has volunteered helping elderly members of the community in tax preparation. Although officially retired and often traveling with husband Larry in their fifth wheel, Clarice rejoins us every tax season.
